A portrait of Bell Canyon homeowners association board candidate Andres Martinez.

Andres Martinez

Trained as an attorney in Venezuela, I came to the states in 1998 and began managing, buying, and renovating different industrial and commercial buildings as well as involved in managing apartment buildings as part of a large trust portfolio. I manage approximately thirty industrial/commercial buildings, most of them located between the San Fernando Valley and Los Angeles. I am also currently the President of an Industrial Complex. I have no ties or relationships with developers or contractors in Bell Canyon.

I had the privilege of serving as Treasurer of the Bell Canyon Equestrian Center (BCEC). During that time, our team worked tirelessly to address significant financial and operational challenges. Together, we made meaningful progress—leaving the BCEC with nearly $90,000 in reserves and beginning to pay down unnecessary debts imposed by the current HOA Board majority. These debts placed an unfair burden on the Equestrian Center, and I believe they were intentionally designed to undermine its success. Unfortunately, the current BCA Board has repeatedly demonstrated a lack of support for the Equestrian Center—one of Bell Canyon’s most valuable assets. Their decisions have been driven more by vindictive politics than by a genuine commitment to our community. This is why our Board resigned: we could no longer stand by while the Equestrian Center, a cornerstone of our community, was systematically harmed by the poor leadership of the HOA board.

I’ve also experienced this disconnect firsthand. Despite my nearly successful run in the March 2024 election, where I lost by just eight votes, and my subsequent offers to join the BCA Board, I was not appointed. This refusal reflects a Board that is out of touch with the needs and desires of our community.

It’s time for a radical change in leadership. My priorities are clear:

  • Support Our Volunteer Fire Department: The recent decision by the Board to withdraw support for our Volunteer Fire Department is unacceptable. I will work to ensure our firefighters have the independence, resources, and facilities they need to protect our community. Their work is invaluable, and their success directly impacts our safety and insurance rates.

  • Revitalizing the Equestrian Center and Community Center: These facilities are vital to our property values and the unique sense of community that makes Bell Canyon special. I will fight to ensure they receive the support and resources they deserve. Very importantly, I will ensure that the community has full transparency in the costs and bidding of the renovations and be able to participate in the design elements moving forward.

  • Restoring Transparency and Accountability: The current Board’s actions have been marked by secrecy and self-interest. I will prioritize open communication, ethical governance, and decisions that reflect the will of the community.

The path forward requires new leadership—leaders who are united in their commitment to Bell Canyon’s best interests. I am running to bring that leadership to our community. Together, we can turn the page on the turmoil of the past and build a brighter future for Bell Canyon.

Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to earning your trust and working alongside you to strengthen our community.
