Yoav Shalev
For over seven years, Bell Canyon has been my home—a community I’ve been proud to serve and protect. From battling the Woolsey fires to being a founding member of the Bell Canyon Volunteer Wildland Fire Department, I’ve seen firsthand the resilience of our neighbors and the potential of our community. But I’ve also witnessed the shortcomings of our current leadership. It’s time for a radical change—a shift toward proactive, experienced, and accountable leadership that puts the needs of Bell Canyon first.
As a retired sergeant with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, I’ve managed critical operations during emergencies, including the Topanga and Malibu fires, and served on the 2013 Presidential Inauguration Protection Detail. These experiences taught me the importance of preparedness, decisive action, and community collaboration. Beyond my law enforcement career, I’m a Doctor of Audiology, a small business owner, and an American Airlines pilot. These diverse roles have honed my ability to lead under pressure, solve complex problems, and prioritize the well-being of others. I have no ties or relationships with developers or contractors in Bell Canyon.
We need new leadership now. My priorities for Bell Canyon are clear:
-
Enhancing Public Safety: Strengthening our emergency response capabilities and ensuring our community is prepared for any crisis.

-
Preserving Our Community: Protecting the natural beauty, safety, and quality of life that makes Bell Canyon so special.

-
Improving Transparency and Accountability: Building trust through open communication and responsible governance.
The path forward requires leadership that listens, acts decisively, and puts the community first. I’m running to bring that leadership to Bell Canyon—to ensure our families, homes, and future are safeguarded. Together, we can build a stronger, safer, and more united community.
